I torture my cat like this all the time but he’s got a long tongue so it doesn’t take him long to figure it out.  Now I have a baby I could try this on except he’s usually the one mushing the food all over his face, and mine if I get too close.  When does the ability to lick your lips clean develop?  That would be immensely helpful.  I’ve also discovered there’s nothing more fun then trying to get dried rice cereal out of a squirming baby’s eye lashes (Sam has loooong eyelashes, way more girlier then mine…so not fair.)

The extras section of Vol 2: The Book of Evil has a new page of reject bears such as zombie bear.  They were never in the running for the final cast but some of them were really fun to draw.  I suppose if I’m going to pander to popular themes I better draw a sparkling vampire bear too…

At least they included Tank; he’s likely the last one picked for every team… but if you give him a six pack I don’t think he’d mind.

I don’t know if we want to get into a Star Wars debate here but I’ll admit the only thing I liked about the newer trilogy was Ewen Mcgregor (I mean what does that man NOT improve?  ”The Island” was awesome!!  Ewen times two!).  The dramatic turning point for Anakin that they’d been building and building up to was kind of truncated and unbelievable (”No! No!…Ok, I’ll murder children”) and, yeah.

The “Robot Chicken” spoof was more entertaining.

So another SDCC has come and gone and this year brought some hilarious photos of the counter protestors.  Apparently that rather un-Christian pastor (or whatever he is) Fred Phelps was there with his typical hate mongerers and the nerds were ready for them!  I particularly like the “Is this thing on?” sign.  Kudos to you guys!  Kudos!

Pages like this make me miss animating

I also had to dismantle my office and drafting table and turn the room into a giant playpen (our house has three bed rooms and Sam now has two).  So I miss that as well.  Now I sit on the floor with him and try to get stuff done on a lap board (which is very tasty apparently) when he’s not crawling all over me.  The little monster will be walking soon and I can already foresee myself not doing so well when he doesn’t need me to untangle his legs for him anymore.  He also has two teeth!  Which he uses to bite me with!

This was a commission from Anime North; I don’t draw cat girls very often but I did like how this one turned out… and it’s not a bear!

Hopefully those are paper plates or Crack’s gonna need his stomach pumped… In making a comic I find I sometimes run into things I never figured I’d need to draw.  Then I’m trying to paint rotten fruit and being disappointed in my ability to render mold.  Good times!

Today’s vote incentive puts poor Tanked in a happier place:  preppy Tanked does tennis! That’s one sport I’ve tried once and have zero aptitude for; I think I need meatier wrists or something.

This arc was fun to draw as I’ve been looking forward to adding a new permanent character for awhile, of course a larger cast is more to draw… Oh and poor Nerd’s bear nuts once again!  I don’t believe he’ll be entering any breeding programs anytime soon.

Poor Evil.  On the rare occasion that he was actually innocent he’s the only one to get hurt. I think Evil would be the first to point out that it won’t always be him as he refuses to be that predictable.  Of course if it was a good prank then he’s liable to get jealous…

Our first Versus! poll is underway but if you haven’t voted yet here’s Ninja Evil in action.

To prove how much Gimp uncares, he didn’t even use any anti-septic!  Or perhaps Tanked already found it and drank it… That Polysporin stuff does wonders though.  So far Sam hasn’t gotten any major injuries but I did draw blood on his finger a little bit while trying to cut his nails.  (I say “trying” as he squirms so much or tries to put the nail trimmer in his mouth that he makes it quite difficult.)  I felt so bad and Jim rubbed it in and then Sam pulled my hair which I’d already cut really short because he is a champion hair puller.  I guess the next step is to shave my head… Yesterday he got into an altercation with one of our cats so out it came again.  Hopefully he’s learnt not to pull tails!

Inspired by our Melee Versus print series, each month (or so, don’t hold me to it if I don’t have time) I’ll put up a new poll with two choices.  You guys can take all month to vote (please only once though) and at the end of the month I’ll post an illustration of the winner taking out the loser… and if I have the time, maybe some of them will be in mini-comic form.  We’re starting out with a couple of well-loved genres but feel free to throw out suggestions of interesting Versus! match-ups you’d like to see: Death Vs. Pikachu?  Tanked Vs. a Field Sobriety Test?  You name it but the challenge is to have a Bear Nuts connection in there somewhere.

Happy belated Canada Day/early Fourth of July to whom it may concern!

I realize I’m not aware of any other country birthdays and as there are many non-North American readers feel free to correct my ignorance and I’ll try to do some other birthday vote images on (or as close as possible to those days).  I also appreciate any stereotype suggestions to go along with!  Here’s Tanked being patriotic.
