Flanked by Evil is probably not a safe place to be…

Finally got to go see a movie last night!  First time since last summer I think??  Iron Man 3 was a blast though the bad guys were kind of a bit over the top perhaps.  I guess when your heros have super powers your villains are going to get a bit ridiculous at times.  I’ve already gotten an email from Amazon about the dvd being available for pre-order now so I suppose home release times are shortening?  Maybe in a few months I’ll get to watch Star Trek too :P

‘Date Night’ will be live on Shirt Punch this WED the 22nd for 24 hours only!  Poor Jayne never got the chance for any great romance.  I wonder what might have happened if the show got more seasons… oh wait, there was the brothel episode.

Sam got a bloody nose at the playground the other day when he walked behind a swing (a big plastic beast for older kids with developmental issues).  It took out another kid on the front pass; I guess everyone was having trouble judging how big a berth to give this thing.  Or the maybe the little girl was, Sam just went without looking.  That’s how he crosses roads too, parenting FAIL.

This kid’s having fun though :)

I guess it was about time I put more toilet humor in the strip :P

I’m prepping this update the week before since I’ll be out all weekend at the Ottawa con and probably asleep long before this goes live so hopefully I had a great time :)  It’s really nice to have a local con again (this would be year 2) as I don’t really get to travel much anymore between kids and the expense to go to US cons. Apparently the Calgary con is getting huge (perhaps too much!) so some day I’d love to go there.  If any of you are regulars to that one I’d really value your opinions on it!

I’ll be somewhere at the Ottawa Comic Con this weekend!  Probably leering at Nathan Fillion from afar :)  I don’t remember my artist alley booth # but drop by if you’re in the neighborhood!  It’s the only con I’ll get to do this year :(

As Beta pointed out I totally forgot the scratch marks  on Evil a couple of pages ago so in case the dialogue doesn’t give it away, they’re back now.  Perhaps I will  model Evil and Evil2 on my twins; the play nice together for a little while, and then the biting starts.

It’s been unseasonably cold here lately, and then today was unseasonably hot.  The babies were running around in diaper shirts and pudgy little legs.  I need to fence in my yard as they’re still going in opposite directions :(  And Sam doesn’t help by trying  to climb on everything.  Perhaps I should start a pool  on when we’re likely to experience our first emergency room visit :P

Since there was just a bit of confusion last week, that’s his hair curler.  I thought the power cord would give it away but I have been enlightened recently that not all vibrators run on batteries :)  And poor Gimp, never gets a break.

Cheeky oranges.

Ugh it’s still cold.  We had a bit of nice weather and then an ice storm a few days ago.  If I was still in school and got a snow day in April I’d be overjoyed.  Instead I’m bitching about nursery school being cancelled… life comes around I guess :)  It reminds me of that Office Depot back to school commercial with the “It’s the most wonderful day of the year!” Christmas music.  Makes me laugh every time I see it.

I’ve been reading a lot of Doctor Seuss lately: Things!

We were painting all day today, this place finally feels a bit more us.  And luckily the colors really turned out well.  I’m always a bit worried about how the paint chip will translate to a whole wall, especially under different lighting, but today was a good day.  Now the dilemma is what to paint Sam’s room; he vacillates between purple, pink, and blue, though some days green is his FAVORITE color, and other days it’s red.  I don’t want to be ogreish about gender color stereotypes but if I had a girl I still wouldn’t want to paint her room pink (I was a total tomboy).

Plus Sam is still at the age where you give him a choice between milk or water and he picks water and you ask him are you SURE? and he says YES, and then you give him the water and he has a tantrum because you didn’t give him the MILK.  I don’t want to paint his whole room and then deal with the drama of it being the wrong color.

Happy late Easter guys.  I hid 24 eggs for the boys and we only found 23.  I’m sure a sticky, melted mess will surface sometime in June.  In the meantime, I’ll be scrubbing chocolate handprints off the fridge for days.

Owen’s had a runny nose for the last two weeks, but Evan’s had a runny butt.  I am all too familiar with baby diarrhea.  (Maybe he’ll read this some day as a teen… HA!).  So the diaper rash is pretty bad and he was going commando in the kitchen for a bit to air out.  I went upstairs to get more diapers and sure enough, he’d peed on the floor.  He actually went to get the dish towel and was trying to clean it up.  I was amazed; he’s always been the more helpful one.  Owen never picks up after himself, the little jerk.

Kitty sketches, or actually Genets.  I’ve been working on this zoo game for over a year now and the diversity of species never ceases to amaze me.  I should post some sketches of some of the weirder stuff out there, like this thing.

When you have small children there’s nothing like the sudden sound of silence.  It fills me with dread.  And then you call them and one tip toes in with the guiltiest grin, urg.

There’s a nice little library down the street from our new house and we took Sam over to get his first library card.  He was very excited and picked out yet another truck book, but this one has flaps to lift and is ever so exciting.  He “reads” it by himself and looks under all the flaps and tells me what he sees.  I was doing dishes and didn’t notice that he’d left the book on the couch and Evan got quiet.  Then I hear a distinctive rip.  Great precedent we set by ripping a flap off the first library book he ever borrowed :(  The librarian sighed and said those flap books never last long; I guess I’m not the only neglectful flap endangering parent.
